About the role:

St Cuthbert's College invites applications from Primary (Year 0–8) teachers with experience and a passion for Music Education.

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic, student-focused, and self-driven Junior School Music Teacher who would like to join our Performing Arts Faculty in 2026. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys being part of a high-performing faculty with outstanding facilities and wonderful support. The Junior School and Performing Arts Faculty offer continued support to help develop the best teaching practice, allowing teachers to pursue a rewarding career. 

Experience and knowledge teaching wind and brass instruments and Kodaly pedagogy is an advantage but not required, as we run a highly-valued wind and brass programme with our Year 5 and 6 students.

The successful applicant will be:

  • A passionate, committed classroom teacher who would like to work closely with our Performing Arts Faculty to support and grow Music learning in the Junior School.
  • Knowledgeable in the New Zealand Music Curriculum.
  • Hold a current New Zealand teacher registration and practising certificate.
  • Valid working rights in New Zealand.

  • Have good interpersonal skills and be a team player.
  • Be an effective verbal and written communicator.
  • Be available for some weekend and evening events.
