Commencement: 12 October 2026

About us:

Epsom-based St Cuthbert's College is one of New Zealand's most distinctive schools for girls, a place where academic excellence, a purpose-built all-girls environment, and an extraordinary second campus come together to prepare every student for the life she chooses to create. Combined with outstanding academic outcomes, a breadth of co-curricular life, and a values-led community that walks alongside each girl from age five to eighteen, these elements create an education that shapes not just what a girl achieves, but who she becomes.

About the role:

St Cuthbert's Swim School is seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Weekend Swim Instructor to join our team on a part-time basis, working Saturday and Sunday shifts (4.5 to 9 hours per week). Opportunities for additional hours are also available during weekday mornings, weekday afternoons, and school holidays.

In this role, you will deliver engaging, high-quality swimming lessons in line with our swim school progressions, ensuring every swimmer develops their skills in a safe, fun, and supportive environment. You will build swimmer confidence and stroke technique, uphold pool safety guidelines and teacher safety protocols at all times, and provide a warm, professional experience for swimmers, parents, and caregivers.

Whether you are an experienced instructor or someone with a strong swimming background looking to start a rewarding role, we would love to hear from you.

The successful candidate will be:

  • Passionate about teaching and working with children, with previous swim teaching experience preferred but not essential.
  • Holding a recognised swim teaching qualification and current First Aid certificate, or Lifeguard qualification (or willing to obtain one) is desirable.
  • An excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills and an empathetic, approachable manner.
  • Reliable and flexible, with availability across weekend shifts.
  • Committed to upholding the College values of "By Love Serve", including teamwork, resilience, and respect.

Why join us?

  • Work in a high-quality aquatic facility with low chlorine pools
  • Flexible weekend schedule (4.5 to 9 hours per week)
  • Extra hours available: potential to pick up cover shifts, weekday morning or afternoon sessions, or holiday programme teaching if desirable
  • Supportive team environment with opportunities for professional development
Applications for this position must have NZ permanent residency or a valid NZ work visa.
