About the role:

We are seeking an outstanding learning assistant to join our team. Our learning assistants work alongside a student and their teachers to support their academic progress and provide support for student wellbeing.

Provide one-on-one educational support to help a student succeed academically across their subjects. You will work collaboratively with teachers to implement and modify learning programmes, maintain daily records of sessions, and develop tailored resources. Fostering a positive relationship with the student to facilitate their learning and engagement is essential to the role.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting students to access the curriculum across a range of subjects
  • Enabling students to develop strategies for organisation
  • Providing daily updates about learning goals and progress
  • Assisting students with task completion
  • Supporting students with learning activities
  • Adapting classroom materials to individual needs
  • Providing assistance for participation in the classroom

The successful candidate will:

  • Have valid working rights in New Zealand
  • Display a high level of empathy
  • Have prior experience with neurodivergent students
  • Use initiative to respond to the needs of students
  • Communicate effectively with others
  • Be well-organised and display a high level of attention to detail
  • Have a high degree of proficiency in verbal and written English
  • Show an ability to work unsupervised
  • Be able to complete work promptly and efficiently
  • Demonstrate the ability to work positively and appropriately as part of a school community
